From the moment I walked in I KNEW this place was going to be the BOMB.

But I was wrong. It's not the bomb. It's the NUCLEAR bomb. Ordered the "Combo - Pick 2" - which for me was the ribs and the quarter chicken with two sides (candies yams, red beans and rice) with a cornbread muffin (is there anything else?).

First to arrive was my unsweetened iced tea in something like a 64 oz cup. No refills needed. Then the magic arrived. HOLY CRAP IT WAS GOOD! Tender tasty ribs and chicken with a honey/spice mixed sauce, red beans and rice that were perfect and merit a return visit JUST for that, cornbread muffins that I'm certain we will be eating in heaven, and candied yams that were divine.

If there's such a thing as "Gastronomic Afterglow" - pretty sure that's what I'm experiencing. Fantastic spot. Move over Terry Black's - you've got competition......

Great little family owned and operated Bbq spot. Food was good and the value was great. The owner is a veteran and the place is named after their son who paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country. If you're in the area and want food food with great service stop by and give back to a family who gave it all. I would frequent them often if j was a local.

Also ask to grab a pen and leave your mark on their wall. Representing California!

It's the friendliest people you will ever meet. The best ribs, coleslaw and corn on the cob ever!!!!! You can leave your mark on the walls and honestly say that you have been invited to the BBQ.

Lemme tell you this is the best bbq joint on the whole northshore FOR SURE. I've eaten at probably every bbq place from Hammond to Slidell since I've been living on the northshore and nothing compares. If I wanted good BBQ I would usually journey down to THE JOINT or CRESCENT CITY BBQ, but now I don't have to leave Slidell. I would've never found this place if it weren't for a coworker either, it's very small and ducked off on a side street, but the food is in on the Main Street of flavor town lol. It's a pretty small place and the menu is simple but it has everything you could want as far as BBQ goes and if that's what it takes to keep up the high quality then please don't change a thing.

The meat was not enjoyable. The sides (corn & collards) were very good. The only thing that saved this restaurant is the Sauce. I mean that was by far the best thing on the plate. You could eat that thing with shoe laces and they'd still be halfway decent
